| Users review: Alien science and technology is also one of the greatest horror / suspense movies ever. Ridley Scott is now one of the most successful directors in Hollywood, but I dont think hes done anything in the last ten years has been the opposite, this film perfectly, which is close to a masterpiece in my opinion. Actually, on reflection there are only three Scott films I really like, these are the first three. The last of these Blade Runner was released twenty years ago, Scott and I long past its use by date. Regardless, the alien itself is a brilliant piece of work, and is nearly flawless. Scott's direction is superb and everything about it is great - a strong script by Dan OBannon et al, requires a lot of Jerry Goldsmith, brilliant design and State; knibrellur, including the amazing contributions HRGiger, all add up to an incredible film experience. I also really liked the way the cast character actors and stars, and had generated a lot of uncertainty about who will live and who will die. This is something very few have done the following films, Pitch Black is one of the exceptions. Sigourney Weaver may be a sign of Ripley now, but when the film was first released it was virtually unknown, it has a small cameo in, Annie Hall Woody Allen and not much else. The rest of the cast are equally good. I especially enjoyed Yaphet Kotto (blue collar) and the legendary Harry Dean Stanton (Wise Blood) as a wise cracking under the deck crew. Many people seem to want a sequel to James Camerons foreigners over this, but how much I love horror and suspense films I think this action is; provide enhanced film, even the strongest and most effective in the series. Alien is a horror classic and utterly unforgettable image that can strongly recommend enough. If not seen, watch now! |
